- Senator for Western Australia
The Turnbull Government has today announced the appointment of Mr Mark Bielecki as the Registered Organisations Commissioner for a five-year term commencing on 1 May 2017.
Mr Bielecki has worked extensively as both a senior lawyer and financial regulator. He has more than 10 years’ experience in senior legal roles and was previously the South Australian Regional Commissioner for ASIC.
"The appointment of the Commissioner has been made following a thorough merit based selection process. I congratulate Mr Bielecki on his appointment,” Minister Cash said.
"Mr Bielecki is eminently qualified for this position, and I look forward to his contribution in this important role.”
The Registered Organisations Commission will ensure that officials from registered organisations are subject to similar standards as company directors.
"We need to ensure that officials of registered organisations put their members and not themselves first,” Minister Cash said.
"A dedicated regulator will improve the governance of registered organisations by ensuring they operate efficiently and with higher standards of accountability to their members.”
